Attorney General Palitha Fernando PC retires


Attorney General Palitha Fernando PC, the 27th Attorney General of Sri Lanka retired from service with effect from 15th October 2014. His distinguished career in the Attorney General’s Department began in 1980 when he joined as an Acting State Counsel and reached its pinnacle with his appointment as Attorney General in July 2012.

The Police Department honoured the retiring Attorney General with a guard of honour at the premises of the Attorney General’s Department in the afternoon. This was followed by a farewell ceremony held at the auditorium of the Attorney General’s Department. Glowing tributes were paid to Mr. Fernando by Solicitor General Mr. Y.J.W.Wijayatilake PC and Additional Solicitor General Mr.Sanjay Rajaratnam, the President of the Legal Officers Association of the Attorney General’s Department. This ceremony was attended by all officers of the Attorney General’s Department.
